How to be number 1 in Google

So you have a website and you have decided that you want to be #1 in Google. How do you do that? Let me start by saying it IS POSSIBLE if your expectations are realistic.  But I also must be brutally honest with you, it is going to take a lot of work.

For example, if you are an Indie Band trying to make it big, don’t expect to rank number 1 for “MP3″ because it isn’t going to happen. And unless you are Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber, don’t plan on ranking anywhere near #1 for these 2 search terms because you aren’t them.

But if you are realistic and want to rank highly for something in your geographic area, for example, then it is quite possible and can be done in as little as 3 months.

In this article I will explain what you need to do to get yourself competitively ranked in your local niche and how to maintain your rankings once you get there.

A Beginners guide to Auditing your Website

One of the first things we always recommend to all our clients is a site audit. This is basically a report where we analyze many aspects of the website to find out if there are problems or things hindering potential rankings.

For example, when we do a site audit we start with looking at server specific items which can affect your rankings.

We start with the basics – an IP Address search. We obtain the IP of the server and also look at what other information we can find out about the hosting.

A Beginners Guide to Link Building – Part II

In our last article we began talking about link building and how someone new to the field of SEO might begin.  We talked about why a company hoping to do business online will need to do link building and we also showed you how to do research online to find out who your competition is by performing some simple keyword research and then looking to see who is ranking online for those terms.

Why You Should Not Rely Solely On Alexa For Your Competitive Intelligence

I recently read an interesting article which compared YouTube (a popular video sharing site) traffic to Google. In it, YouTube was more popular than Google, at least according to web measurement firm Alexa.

And that struck a chord with me. I’ve dealt with Alexa before so I know it’s shortcomings.

In this article we look at why Alexa data is flawed and how you need to be aware of that.
